I want to provide you with an update on Lovey. Today Lovey is 6 months old. She is 7.5 pounds and full of puppy energy. Lovey loves to play with her toys, take walks, and snuggle. She has learned to sit and stay. She is very smart and eager to learn. Everywhere we go, people tell us that they have never seen such a cutie until they meet Lovey. I brought home one of Karen Lorenz’s Barbet puppies. I wanted a smart, well socialized, patient and happy dog, and I was not disappointed! From the day that I brought Mila home, I have been impressed with how social she was with humans and other animals. You could really tell that a very strong foundation was laid by Karen to make sure that her puppies were well socialized, happy, potty trained and healthy. Mila has always been a very happy puppy and has been a joy to train (she’s incredibly smart and picks up training very fast) and socializing her with other dogs and people has been a breeze. To say that I’m mildly obsessed with Mila is an understatement – I love her so much! She became an instant and essential part of the family, and I’m so delighted that I found Karen’s kennel and was able to bring home a wonderful puppy!

My husband and I just picked up our sweet boy now known as Leonardo this past Saturday. We came to pick up our daughters pup for her and chose this sweet boy. We can hardly believe the calm sweet personality. We have never seen a puppy so intelligent, 12 weeks old, this boy sees into your sole. The 2 1/2 hour ride to the hotel was no problem, he just sat on my lap the whole way, then in the hotel room was calm quiet and so sweet, no crying barking and no accidents. He went with the flow everywhere we went. We had so many compliments on how well behaved he is. We fell in love with him. He told us when he had to potty too. I can’t tell you how many crazy smart things he did in just the two days we were at the hotel. Never skittish of people or other animals, gentle and kind with everyone he met. We could not get over how calm he was even in the busy airport with noise and people everywhere, he just took it all in with no problem. Laid down while we waited to board and just slept and on the plane in the soft crate, no problem he just slept, he did potty for us in between connections as was a total champ. We met up with my daughter when we got into Portland and they bonded right away, she took him home to her family and Leo treated everyone with a very gentle approach. He got along famously with their other dog who never plays with other dogs like he does with Leo. My daughter on the first day home took him with her to her Art studio where she teaches art to kids, up to 12 at a time, Leo greeted everyone gently including the parents coming and going and simply laid down under the table while the Kids had their lessons. We are in Awe of this amazing Pup and could not think of a better match for our daughter and her family. We sure hated to pass him over but we are happy to welcome our new grand puppy. Thank You Karen for your calm encouraging advice, you defiantly know your stuff. We will send you photos as we go along so you can see the process. Very nice meeting you and Thank You!!!

When I reached out to Karen at Morning Star Kennels, I had expressed a desire for a female Barbet. I was seeking a puppy that could blend well with my slightly temperamental male mixed breed, and have a calm disposition so the puppy could come to work at my children’s art studio. She described her three remaining puppies and I picked one of the females, but she told me that the male was so sweet and that he would be a perfect fit. I was still adamant about the female at that point. I was unable to get out to South Carolina as I live and work in Oregon, but my retired parents agreed to make a little adventure out of it and get the puppy. When they met the puppies they immediately called me and said “you HAVE to get the male. He is amazing!” Thank you Karen for your intuition, your advice, and for seriously the most wonderful puppy. He is already the best studio greeter, is calm and friendly, and well-adjusted. People marvel at how mellow and inquisitive he is.You are amazing at what you do and we will recommend you to anyone who asks!

I wanted to drop you a line to let you know how Jojo (Mia) is doing. I was so broken hearted when I lost my little poodle of 14 years. I then decided that I needed another little friend. Wow! I have no idea how I stumbled on you ad for puppies and ended up with the best little dog I have ever had in my life! She is glued to me at all times. When I leave the house, she is on the back of the couch, watching out the window for my return. Her pillow is above my pillow in bed. When I say “let’s go to bed,” and I lift her onto the bed, she knows right where “her” pillow is. I did as you suggested and gave her raw chicken treats for a few days with only me feeding her. My husband and I laugh because she definitely my dog. She likes my husband, but to the day will bark at him if he comes near me. She’s so sweet, though. She would not bite, but sure puts on a show protecting me while wagging her tail. I just wanted to let you know she is the queen of this house and we love her dearly! Thank you so much for what you do in raising these beautiful souls.

Hello! This is Ann who purchased and took a puppy from your house on the first day of the New Year! We named him ‘Melody”. I am so grateful to have such a lovely and pretty friend. Melody fell asleep on the whole trip to my house. Contrary to my worries, we arrived comfortably. Melody adapts well to his new environment. He eats well and plays well. He is the greatest joy and happiness of our family. I just wanted to give you his update. I hope you are always healthy and safe.

We are so grateful that our search for a Barbet puppy led us to Karen Lorenz of Companions with Heaven! Karen called us promptly in response to our inquiry and gave a detailed description of her breeding Barbets and the testing she has done. She responded promptly to any follow-up questions, as well. She was knowledgeable of the requirements of air travel with a puppy and met us promptly at the appointed time with our bouncing puppy boy! Our new puppy “Charlie” was clean, healthy looking, cheerful and affectionate right upon greeting. Karen had all of the AKC and that paperwork in order.
Charlie traveled exceedingly well, remaining calm and quiet through eight hours of flights and layovers. He has responded well to our other dogs and family members showing evidence of having been well socialized. He seems to have a very stable nervous system, calming very quickly from any startling event. He has been sleeping through the night in his crate beside his bed, without complaint from the first night! Charlie has kept his crate clean and has been a cinch to house train, with only one accident in the house so far. By the second day, he went to the door and whined to go out!
Most impressive besides his sweet disposition has been his learning ability. Charlie learned to offer a “sit” for more kibble while being hand fed on the first day. After naming this position, he quickly learned to sit on command. On his third day with us, this nine week old puppy learn to try to drop to a down position when a treat was lowered to the floor in front of him. Many dogs take a long time to figure out what you want them to do, and just paw at the hand holding the treat and get frustrated, but not Charlie! His learning potential seems unlimited and we are excitedly looking forward to participating in dog sports as well as just having a companion who is so joyful and smoothly integrated into our household!

Our amazing new puppy Casette
Dear Karen,
I am writing to thank you for our amazing “Casette”! She is now five months old, and she is everything you said she would be and more. We could not have a more perfect dog then her. She is beautiful, intelligent, intuitive, playful, affectionate, and a great playmate and guardian of my too active grandsons ages 2 1/2 and 4 1/2. She is attentive to my husband, who’s health Is declining, and a wonderful companion to me. All of the things you said she would be. Truly, I can’t thank you enough!
I also want to thank you for making the entire experience of getting Casette, our beautiful chestnut barbet (with her one white paw) an Incredible experience. Our many conversations, initially about the breed, searching for a puppy, making the logistic arrangements of getting her to South Florida, and just answering all of my questions that were always addressed immediately. Your Bichons are Amazing
We have had Bichons for many years. Our first choice on the breed. Personally, I feel the Bichon Breed is truly linked up with Karen Lorenz from Companions from Heaven. Their home and facility is a well-kept location and perfect for breeding Bichons in a manicured, very clean, and well-run Operation.
